German sellers face the standard eurozone processing rate — 4% + €0.30 — plus 19% USt added on top of every Etsy fee unless you're registered. The good news: Germany has no regulatory operating fee, unlike France (1.14%) or Italy (0.80%). Verified Sep 15, 2026.

Kleinunternehmerregelung: what changes

Under the Kleinunternehmer rule (§19 UStG) you don't charge VAT to buyers — but Etsy still adds 19% USt on its own fees, and you can't reclaim it. Once you register for VAT (or cross the €25,000 previous-year threshold under the 2025 rules), Etsy's fees become reverse-charge with your DE VAT ID on file: no 19% surcharge.
